Who we support
Break the Silence supports adults and young people aged 13 and over in North and East Ayrshire who have experienced childhood sexual trauma, as well as their partners, family members and others who are affected by what has happened.
We welcome people of all genders, backgrounds and identities who have been affected by childhood sexual abuse, whether the trauma happened recently or many years ago. Our free, confidential support is available to survivors living in East and North Ayrshire.
We recognise that sexual trauma impacts the people around a survivor, so we offer support to partners and family members who are trying to understand, cope and be alongside someone they care about. Our team works in a compassionate, collaborative and trauma-informed way, taking time to listen and work at each person’s own pace so that they can access the kind of help that feels safe and manageable for them.
We also offer specialist services such as training in vicarious trauma to other organisations that support survivors such as midwives and GP surgeries.
