Counselling
Counselling offers survivors a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk through the impact of childhood sexual abuse at their own pace. At Break the Silence, you work with the same therapist throughout, with support offered fortnightly, and we tailor the approach to what feels right for you.
Counselling can give you time and space to explore the feelings, experiences and patterns that may still be affecting your life now. For survivors of childhood sexual abuse, that may include loss, grief, anger, fear, shame, numbness or the ways trauma can show up in relationships, sleep, mood or day-to-day wellbeing.
Your counsellor will listen carefully and work alongside you without pressure. The focus is on helping you feel safe enough to explore things gradually and in a way that feels manageable and only when you are ready.
You remain in control of the pace of support. If at any point you feel counselling is too much, or that you need a break, you can pause and return when you feel ready to continue. We respect your confidentiality and communicate with you as discretely as possible.
Counselling is one of several therapeutic options we offer, and we will talk with you about what might best meet your needs.
